Vegetarian Recipes - Chaat Recipe

Ingredients For Mata Ki Chaat : 

  • Sukhe matar - 2 cups  (Pre-soaked)
  • Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • A pinch of asafoetida (Hing)
  • Tamarind chutney – 2 tablespoon
  • Green chutney – 2 tablespoon
  • Potatoes -  2 no’s (boiled, peeled and chopped)
  • Onion  - 1 no (finely chopped)
  • Tomato - 1 no  (finely chopped)
  • Cucumber  -  1 no (peeled and chopped)
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground red chillies - 1/2  teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4  teaspoon
  • Black salt (kala namak) – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ground roasted cumin (Jeera) - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

Method For Matar Ki Chaat :

  • Place dried peas in a saucepan and add sufficient water to cover them.
  • Stir in the soda and asafoetida powder and cook over a moderate heat for about 15 minutes until the peas are tender.
  • Serve individually taking 2 scoops of cooked peas and cover with little chopped onions, cucumber. tomatoes and  potatoes.
  • Sprinkle with spices to individual taste.
  • Pour a little tamarind & green chutney and lemon juice on the top.
  • Toss well and serve Matar ki Chaat.
