Dal Fry
Ingredients for Dal Fry:
  • Moong dal  - 3/4 cup
  • Masoor dal  - 1/4 cup
  • Onion - 1 nos. chopped
  • Ginger-Garlic paste - 1 teaspoon each
  • Tomato - 2 no's. chopped
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2  teaspoon
  • Red chili powder  - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon 
  • Pure Ghee/Butter - 2tablespoon
  • Salt To taste

Method for Dal Fry:

  • Wash both the dals together and boil with salt and turmeric powder till the dal softs.
  • Heat Ghee/Butter in a pan , add cumin seeds , when cumin changes color add chopped onion.
  • Cook till onions are light golden brown,add red chili powder and ginger garlic paste. Sauté well.
  • Add tomatoes and reduce heat. Cover and cook till done.
  • Add boiled dals and salt, cook uncovered ,bring to required consistency .
  • Add Ghee/Butter and Garam Masala Powder to the dal before serving .
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Enjoy Dal Fry with White rice or chapaties.
