Ingredients for Moong Dal With Palak:
- Moong dal/split green gram - 1 cup
- Spinach - 1/2 Kg chopped
- Butter - 2 tablespoon
- Tomato - 1 no. chopped
- Onion - 1 no. chopped
- Ginger - 1 inch.
- Green chilli - 2 no's
- Garlic - 2 Cloves
- Cumin seeds -1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
Method for Moong Dal With Palak:
- Soak the moong dal/split green gram in water for about an hour.
- Grind the garlic, green chillies, ginger and onions to a fine paste.
- Add the turmeric and red chilli powders to the paste and mix.
- Heat the butter in a pan and fry the cumin seeds till they splutter.
- Add the paste and fry till fat leaves the sides and add tomato and salt. Cook on medium level till oil starts seperating.
- Add the soaked gram and the water and cover and boil on low level till the gram is tender.
- Add the chopped spinach and simm cook till the spinach is cooked.
- Put some butter on the daal as topping before serving.
- Enjoy Moong Dal Palak with chapaties/rice.
