Moong Dal With Palak
Ingredients for Moong Dal With Palak:
  • Moong dal/split green gram - 1 cup
  • Spinach  - 1/2 Kg  chopped
  • Butter - 2 tablespoon
  • Tomato - 1 no.  chopped
  • Onion - 1 no.  chopped
  • Ginger - 1 inch.
  • Green chilli - 2 no's
  • Garlic - 2 Cloves
  • Cumin seeds -1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder  - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

Method for Moong Dal With Palak:

  • Soak the moong dal/split green gram in water for about an hour.
  • Grind the garlic, green chillies, ginger and onions to a fine paste.
  • Add the turmeric and red chilli powders to the paste and mix.
  • Heat the butter in a pan and fry the cumin seeds till they splutter.
  • Add the paste and fry till fat leaves the sides and add tomato and salt. Cook on medium level till oil starts seperating.
  • Add the soaked gram and the water and cover and boil on low level till the gram is tender.
  • Add the chopped spinach and simm cook till the spinach is cooked.
  • Put some butter on the daal as topping before serving.
  • Enjoy Moong Dal Palak with chapaties/rice.
