Bhakri (Jowar roti)
Ingredients for Bhakri (Jowar roti):
  • Sorghum flour (Jowar ka atta) - 1/2 Kg
  • Water (Pani) - As required (warm)
  • Salt (Namak) - 1/2 teaspoon
Method for Bhakri (Jowar roti):
  • Mix jowar flour, salt and warm water and knead to make a soft dough.
  • Divide this dough into 12 parts and make round balls of each part.
  • On a flat surface, sprinkle little jowar flour and pat the ball with your palm.
  • Keep flattening the ball in circular motion to make round shape like roti.
  • Heat a tawa (griddle), remove bhakri from flat surface and put it on tawa.
  • Now with the help of wet cloth, spread water on the bhakri, immediately turn on the bhakri to cook the other side.
  • Now remove from griddle and hold it on the direct flame with the help of spatula and press a bit to get puffed.
  • Roast on both sides till you get small black spots.
  • Enjoy hot and puffed Bhakri (Jowar roti) with any gujarati vegetable preparations.
