Gujrati Kadhi
Ingredients for Gujrati Kadhi:
  • Curd/Youghurt (Dahi) - 1/4 Kg  (one day old curd)
  • Water (Pani) - 1/4 litre
  • Bengal Gram Flour (besan) - 1/4 cup
  • Ginger Paste (Adrak) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilli paste (Hari mirch) - 1 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves (Curry patte) - A few
  • Cumin seeds (Jeera) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds (Rai) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fenugreek seeds (Methi ) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - 1/6 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder (Haldi) - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sugar (Chini) - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves (Dhaniya patte) - A few
  • Oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
Method for Gujrati Kadhi:
  • Beat together the yoghurt, besan and water to form a smooth gravy and add ginger and
  • chilli paste.
  • Heat the oil in pan, add the methi seeds, mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them
  • splutter, add the curry leaves and asafoetida.
  • Pour this tempering over the yoghurt -gram flour gravy (kadhi) and bring the kadhi to
  • boil, stirring continuously so that it does not boil over.
  • Add salt and sugar to taste and boil the kadhi for 20 minutes or untill the kadhi is of the consistency of a thick soup.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy hot Kadhi with plain rice or roti.
