Chakli
Ingredients for Chakli:
  • Rice flour (Chawal ka atta) - 1 cup
  • Moong dal (Split moong) - 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric (Haldi) - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Carom seeds (ajwain) - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder (Lal mirch) - 1/2 teaspoon  
  • Oil for frying
  • salt to taste
Method for Chakli:
  • Pressure cook the moong dal to a paste like consistency.
  • Mix well rice flour, moong dal paste, turmeric, salt, chili powder, carom seeds.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil and add this hot oil to the rice flour mixture.
  • Add water and knead it well with hands to make a stiff dough.
  • Take a lemon size dough and place it in a chakli mould with star nozzle.
  • Heat oil, gently make a spiral with chakli mould and deep fry to a golden brown.
  • Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
  • Enjoy Chakli as a snackes with tea, coffee or juice.
