Mathri (Mathis) (Matti)
Ingredients for Mathri (Mathis) (Matti):
  • All purpose flour (Maida) - 2 cup
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Thymol (Ajwain) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
Method for Mathri (Mathis) (Matti):
  • Mix together maida, oil, ajwain and salt along with warm water to make a stiff dough.
  • Divide the dough into 12 parts and make small thin rounds off each part of dough.
  • Prick them on both sides with a fork or knife and allow to dry a bit for 20-30 minutes.
  • Heat oil or ghee in a pan and deep fry a few at a time to a pale golden color.
  • Drain on a kitchen paper and allow to cool before you store them in air-tight containers.
  • Enjoy Mathri (Mathis) (Matti) with tea or coffee or any other drink.
