Ingredients for Dhokla:
- Gram flour - 1/4 Kg
- Curd/yoghurt - 3/4 cup
- Green Chilies paste - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger paste- 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Soda bi-carb- 1 teaspoon
- Lime juice - 2 tablespoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Oil - 4 tablespoon
- Curry leaves - A few
- Mustard Seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander leaves - A few
- Green chilies - 3 no's vertically slit
Method for Dhokla:
- Mix gram flour, curd/yoghurt and water to make a smooth and thick consistency batter.
- Add salt, mix it well again, cover with lid and set aside for 5 hours or more in warm place.
- After 5 hours add ginger, green chili paste and turmeric powder to the batter ,mix well.
- Keep the steamer or cooker ready on gas to make steam , grease a baking dish .
- In a bowl mix soda bi-carb, oil and lemon juice, then add to the batter and mix well.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan and steam for 10-12 minutes or till it is done.
- Let it cool for sometime, bring to room temperature and cut into 1 1/2 inches cubes.
- Heat 2 tablespoon oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves allow to splutter. Remove and pour it over dhoklas and garnish with coriander leaves and
- Garnish the besan dhokla with coriander and vertically slit green chilies.
- Enjoy Dhokla with mint chutney.
