Ingredients for vada:
- Urad dal - 1 cup
- Green chillies - 3 no's chopped
- Soda bicarb - A pinch
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt to taste
Ingredients for dahi:
- Curd/yoghurt - 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
- Asafoetida powder - A pinch
- Curry leaves - 5 no's
- Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoon
Method for Dahi Vada:
- Soak the urad dal in hot water for 2-3 hours.
- Blend in a food processor using very little water till you get a smooth dough.
- Mix in all the remaining vada ingredients .
- Make small balls and fry in oil till golden brown.
- Drain on paper and let them cool to room temperature.
- Add salt to the curd/yoghurt and beat well till it becomes very smooth.
- Prepare the seasoning with mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida.
- Add to the curd/yoghurt and mix well and add vadas .
- Add tamarind chutney on the top.
