Kheer
Ingredients for Kheer:
  • Rice -  1/4 cup(Long grain )
  • Milk - 1 litre
  • Cardamom - 3 no's crushed
  • Almond - 2 tablespoon
  • Cashewnuts - 2 tablespoon
  • Raisin - 1 tablespoon
  • Pistachios - 1 tablespoon
  • Saffron  - A few strands
  • Sugar - 1 cup
Method for Kheer:
  • Put the rice, milk and cardamom in a pan, bring to boil and simmer gently until the rice is soft and the grains are starting to break up.
  • Add chopped cashewnuts, almonds,pistachios,saffron (soaked in 1 teaspoon of milk)and raisins and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved and remove from the heat.
  • Enjoy Kheer hot or chilled as desired.
Note:
  • Condensed milk can also be used to enhance the taste of Kheer.
