Ghiya Raita
Ingredients for Ghiya Raita:
  • Ghiya (bottle gourd) - 1/4 Kg
  • Curd (yogurt) - 1/2 Kg
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 teasoppn
  • Black pepper powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

Method for Ghiya Raita:

  • Heat the oil and add the cumin seeds nad let them splutter.
  • Add the grated Ghiya and saute till well mixed.
  • Lower the heat and cook till tender.
  • Remove from heat and leave to cool.
  • Beat the yogurt till smooth, and add a little water if required.
  • Add the salt, black pepper, roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder and  the coriander leaves to the yogurt and mix well. Mix in the ghiya too.
  • Garnish with the roasted and crushed cumin seeds and the coriander leaves.
  • Chill Ghiya Raita and enjoy with Rice or Chapaties.
